Coalition to Save Temporary Protected Status

Raben leads the Coalition to Save Temporary Protected Status, fighting for immigrant rights and stability.

About the client

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) offers temporary legal status to eligible immigrants in crisis-hit countries, allowing them to live and work in the U.S.

Our Work

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) is a temporary legal status granted to eligible immigrants from countries affected by natural disasters, armed conflict, or other conditions leading to instability. TPS allows these persons to live and work in the U.S. for a limited time. TPS does not provide a path to permanent residency or citizenship.

In the face of the Trump administration’s termination of TPS status for various countries, including Honduras, El Salvador, Haiti, and Nepal, advocates across the country are fighting to reverse this harmful decision. In Fall 2017, Raben was retained by several national immigration advocacy organizations and a major funder to develop and run a national campaign and coordinate a wide-ranging coalition to save TPS.

The Outcome

Raben elevated the issue of TPS as a priority among members of Congress and the media, through the release of press kits and use of pressure on the legislature. Raben provided support to groups who are advocates for the TPS campaign through media events and advocacy with the executive branch.
