Our Work

Raben spearheaded the Diversify Our Organizations initiative for the Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York) from 2017 to 2020. This transformative program delivered a robust diversity, equity, and inclusion curriculum over seven months to 10-12 member theaters annually. Guided by Raben staff, the series steered theater staff and board leadership through the comprehensive journey of understanding the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in their institutional mission. It covered crucial aspects such as fostering a culture of inclusion, implementing equitable hiring practices, and diversifying board leadership through nomination and rotation.

Raben provided personalized coaching to each cohort member organization, ensuring the integration of DEI principles into their core operations. At the program's conclusion, institutions emerged with their individualized DEI plans, complete with measurable metrics and outputs.

Additionally, we organized board speed dating events for cohort members, facilitating connections and aiding in the recruitment of a more diverse board. The impact of the program has been transformative, reshaping hiring processes and enhancing board recruitment strategies for participating organizations.
