Director

Washington, DC

As a director in Raben’s Strategic Communications practice, Amanda Horn uses her extensive communications experience to help her clients effectively tell their stories to create lasting change.

Over the last decade, Amanda’s work has focused on various public and private sector topics, including mental health, veterans affairs, education, healthcare, anti-human trafficking efforts, and pro-democracy issues.

Prior to joining Raben, Amanda was the senior manager of marketing and public relations at Active Minds, the nation’s leading nonprofit for youth and young adult mental health awareness. In this role, Amanda led communications and marketing and earned media attention during a major growth period for the organization. During her time at Active Minds, Amanda secured coverage for the organization in top-tier national, state, and local outlets, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, NPR, and the Today Show. Before Active Minds, Amanda worked for a range of nonprofit and association groups around the Washington, D.C., metro area and DCG Communications as a senior account executive. At DCG, Amanda worked on communication, earned media, and digital campaigns for the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and Education.

Amanda received her bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University at Buffalo and lives with her husband and daughter in Annapolis, Maryland. When she is not working, you can find her chasing after her very busy toddler, finding any excuse to go out on the boat, or tending to never-ending yard projects.
