With over ten years of experience in media, law, and advocacy, Andrea is a PR strategist who combines big-picture vision with an ability to dive deep in the weeds and a passionate commitment to the issues she works on. As a Director at The Raben Group, Andrea balances a diverse portfolio of nonprofit, philanthropy, and private sector clients who rely on her messaging and media relations expertise.

Andrea is a long-time advocate for Latinos, immigrants, and working people. She got her start as a Spanish-language spokesperson for the United Food and Commercial Workers and  International Union. Then, she joined the Immigration Policy Center, where she crafted the organization’s digital communications strategy and launched Immigration Impact — the first immigration news blog of its kind. Andrea later joined the communications team at the Center for American Progress, serving as a reporter for ThinkProgress and commentator on topics affecting the Latino and immigrant communities.

Most recently, Andrea was a trial attorney at Keker, Van Nest & Peters, a top litigation boutique, where she helped develop winning arguments for a diverse set of clients that included a Guatemalan refugee fleeing gang violence, a prison inmate seeking to reform California’s parole system, and a tech industry underdog facing off with a Fortune 500 company.

In 2016, San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee appointed Andrea to the city’s Human Rights Commission. She also served on the San Francisco Bar Association’s Criminal Justice Task Force, where she co-chaired the Bias Subcommittee.

She has been cited in The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and the Rachel Maddow Show and has appeared on Univision, CNN Español, and Telemundo. Her writing has also been featured in everything from news publications to academic journals.

Andrea earned her law degree from Yale Law School and has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Cornell University. Born in Guatemala and raised in New York, Andrea lives in Brooklyn with her husband and French Bulldog, Nacho.
