Chris Lechuga is a director in The Raben Group’s Texas office where he applies his decade of experience in media relations, digital strategy, and crisis communications to deliver effective messaging and positive outcomes for clients.
Before arriving at Raben, Chris served as the senior communications specialist at the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas, where he focused on leveraging the district’s communication strategies to engage parents, students, employees, stakeholders, and residents. Chris was also involved in developing and executing informational communications campaigns that led to the passage of two bond referendums aimed at rebuilding and renovating many of the district’s aging schools.
As a first-generation college student, Chris found his passion in advocating for greater access to quality public and higher education for minority and disadvantaged students. He turned that passion into policy experience earlier in his career while serving as the director of policy and programs at the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, as well as other positions with former Texas State Representative Marisa Márquez and former U.S. Congressman Silvestre Reyes.
Chris is a native El Pasoan. He earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational and corporate communications and an MBA in management from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he also served as a writer and public affairs specialist in the University’s communications office.
Outside of work, Chris spends time with his wife and two sons, usually playing at their neighborhood park, binge-streaming their favorite shows, and eating pizza. He enjoys reading, tackling various home improvement projects, and a good crossword puzzle.
