Clayton Barsoum is a director in the Government Affairs practice area at The Raben Group, where he brings years of experience advancing mission-focused organizations and the resources they provide to their communities.

Before joining Raben, Clayton was the director of government affairs for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CBP). In that role, he engaged and informed congressional staff on issues related to public media funding, telecommunications, media diversity, and education. During Clayton’s tenure, CPB received historic funding increases — including two supplemental appropriations that stabilized funding for public media stations and ensured the continuity of their essential services during the pandemic.

Outside of Washington, Clayton has leadership experience in electoral campaigns’ operational and grassroots efforts at the state, local, and presidential levels.

Clayton received his master’s degree in Public Policy from American University and participated in the school’s Public Affairs and Advocacy Institute. He also recently participated in the Friedrich Naumann Foundation’s Transatlantic Dialogue Program, a political exchange and dialogue program among political, business, and cultural leaders from the United States, Canada, and Germany.

When Clayton is not working, you might find him enjoying live music or cycling. Currently, he is training and fundraising for AIDS Lifecycle, a charity bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that supports HIV/AIDS services and raises awareness of HIV/AIDS issues.
