Danny Meza is a principal in Raben's Government Affairs and Policy Counsel practice area, bringing nearly two decades of experience advocating at the federal level and in private practice. He has developed a nuanced understanding of successful stakeholder engagement on high-profile issues, providing expert analyses and strategic advice to clients on the connections between domestic and foreign policy.

Before joining Raben, Danny was a senior advisor in the Department of State’s Office of the Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment. He implemented President Biden’s supply chain executive order with a particular focus on electric vehicle batteries, semiconductors, critical minerals, and COVID-related supply chains. In addition to coordinating economic dialogue between the U.S. and partner nations, Danny helped plan the White House’s 2022 Summit of the Americas and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. He also coordinated congressional and third-party engagement strategies on economic security and competition issues, clean energy, environmental priorities, the Inflation Reduction Act, and CHIPS Act implementation. Before joining the Biden administration, Danny served as the chief of staff to Congressman Joaquin Castro (D-Texas). His portfolio included the congressman’s work as chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the U.S.-Japan Caucus, the Congressional Caucus on ASEAN, and the U.S.-Spain Council. Danny also previously served as deputy chief of staff and senior foreign policy advisor for Congressman Castro.

Prior to his time on Capitol Hill, Danny was a senior advisor for the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs at the Department of Commerce, where he advised the undersecretary and bureau senior officials on legislative strategy for the Administration’s export control reform initiatives and more. At Commerce, he was also a senior advisor in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration. In the private sector, Danny was an associate with World Trade Management Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, and an associate with the Trade & Customs Practice at KPMG, LLP.

Danny earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Juris Doctor and LL.M in International Business and Trade Law from John Marshall Law School. He was named to Huffington Post’s “40 under 40: Latinos in Foreign Policy” list in 2015 and served on the US-Japan Conference on Cultural and Educational Interchange (CULCON) Task Force on Next Generation Leadership for U.S. and Japan from 2016 to 2022. Danny enjoys concerts and music festivals, cooking, and traveling in his free time.
