Deshundra Jefferson is drawn to the eye of the storm. A former reporter, Deshundra once initiated an investigative series that held local officials accountable to those they had been elected to serve … but her favorite assignment may have been chasing tornados. She brings that same tenacious spirit to The Raben Group, where she provides strategic communications counsel and helps clients navigate an ever-changing media landscape.
Prior to joining Raben, Deshundra specialized in crisis communications and reputation management as a Managing Director for kglobal. While at kglobal, she worked on dozens of food and consumer product issues, often identifying the right allies to help deliver messages for clients in need.
Deshundra joined kglobal from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) where she was the Southern Regional Communications Director during the 2016 presidential election. She was responsible for coordinating rapid response efforts in 11 states, including two closely-watched battlegrounds, and for leading communications efforts for the DNC’s Voter Expansion unit.
Before working for the DNC, Deshundra oversaw communications for two prominent members of Congress. She began her political communications career as a Press Secretary on a DCCC Emerging Race during the 2012 election cycle.
Deshundra covered politics at Fox 40 News in Jackson, Mississippi and was a business reporter for CNN/Money.com.
She earned a B.A. in political science from Columbia University and an MA in Communication from Johns Hopkins. Deshundra lives in Northern Virginia with her family.
