Geoff Knight

Geoff Knight brings extensive government communication experience to his work as a director in The Raben Group’s Media and Communications practice area.

Before joining Raben, Geoff served for more than four years on U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s (D-Ohio) communications team, most recently as his national press secretary, where he was instrumental in centering media strategy and messaging around economic justice and social equity. During his time working for Sen. Brown, Geoff crafted and executed short- and long-term strategic communication plans to generate media interest in the senator’s priorities, including labor rights, voting rights, consumer protection, criminal justice reform, infrastructure, and other salient issues for the senator’s broad and diverse constituency. He also advised the senator and personal office staff on rapid-response messaging, strategy, media interviews, and public remarks. As press secretary, Geoff was able to cultivate relationships with national, statewide, and local media outlets and reporters, landing hits for Sen. Brown in a number of national publications – including Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, VOX, Bloomberg News, and HuffPost – as well as D.C.- and Ohio-based publications.

Geoff (whose name is pronounced the same way as Jeff) received a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a minor in religious studies from Albion College. He grew up splitting time between Cleveland, Ohio, and Ann Arbor, Mich., before eventually relocating to Washington. Geoff enjoys playing recreational sports, attending various artistic and/or cultural events around the city, and participating in discussion groups. He feels compelled to mention that he supports University of Michigan Athletics and Detroit sports franchises (except for the Lions).
