John A. Meza brings rich experience from the political arena to his role as Director with The Raben Group, supporting clients across a range of media relations and strategic communications needs.
John came to Raben after several years on Capitol Hill where he served most recently as Communications Director for Congressman Beto O’Rourke. Through his media relations expertise, he has pitched, packaged, and placed pieces in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Economist, USA Today, BuzzFeed, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, and Snapchat. His efforts to shape narratives have supported successful broadcast media appearances including Good Morning America, NPR, the CBS Evening News, CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, Bloomberg, and the BBC, as well as Sunday political shows including CBS’s Face the Nation and CNN’s State of the Union. His impactful social media campaigns have garnered millions of views around the world and have been shared personally by Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg and former Twitter CEO Ev Williams.
John has worked with organizations large and small, public and private, foreign and domestic, including the Brookings Institution and the Council of the Americas, to amplify messaging and achieve common goals. He has worked with cabinet-level officials and the White House to hold successful press conferences, roundtables, and events, both in the United States and abroad.
A sixth-generation Texan, John holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at El Paso.
