Nile Johnson is a senior associate in The Raben Group’s Issue and Campaigns practice area. Nile has a commitment to advancing culture-shifting work and a passion for DEI work. With a background in integrated marketing and communications, she will bring a dynamic skill set to the role, including thought leadership, creative writing and content development, and a community-based research approach to communications.
Prior to Raben, Nile worked at the Detroit Regional Chamber where she supported various marketing, strategic communications, and DEI initiatives. There, Nile helped launch the Chamber’s Racial Equity division and started programmatic work to help with member engagement. She also supported the marketing of Chamber membership and engagement activities, and talent and education initiatives. Nile also previously worked at Refinery29, a multinational digital media and entertainment women’s website as part of its corporate communications team.
Nile is a Louisiana State University (LSU) graduate with a bachelor’s degree from the Manship School of Mass Communication, where she majored in political communications with a minor in psychology. While pursuing her undergraduate degree at LSU, Nile became a diversity ambassador, undergoing training that gave her in-depth knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In May 2020, Nile earned her Diversity and Inclusion Certificate from Cornell University.
In her free time, Nile is an avid tennis player and loves to spend quality time with her friends and family. She also holds an interest in the social welfare of others and voter rights. Nile also volunteered on gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’s campaign and volunteers with the NAACP.
