As Deputy COO at The Raben Group, Surjeet supports business development, talent management, and the building of internal systems that make our work more efficient. Throughout her career, Surjeet has worked to translate big ideas into concrete action and create teams that thrive.
Prior to joining The Raben Group, Surjeet served as Executive Director of Asian American LEAD, a youth development organization supporting low-income and underserved Asian Pacific American youth in the DC region. Surjeet grew the organization in many ways, including nearly doubling the number of youth served. She grew Asian American LEAD’s base of individual donors, as well as their giving amounts. Surjeet was successful as an Executive Director because of her emphasis on building sustainable systems, as well as creating and supporting strong teams.
In addition to youth development, Surjeet has worked on a range of social policy issues from a variety of perspectives. She led operations on the start-up team for Teach For India, based on the Teach For America model, which aims to bring more leaders to improve the education of young people living in poverty. Surjeet developed practice-changing internal policies and implemented systems to move more children to permanent homes at DC’s child welfare agency. At Child Trends, a policy research organization, she analyzed the impacts of welfare-to-work programs.
Surjeet is a graduate of the University of Rochester, and holds a Master’s in Public Policy degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
